Financial Aid Administrators have the authority to make professional judgments for both special and unusual circumstances. In addition, FAAs sometimes play a role in deciding a student's dependency status for FAFSA purposes, such as determining a student to be an unaccompanied homeless youth or making a dependency override.

Looking for more training on these important roles? The FSA Training Center offers a learning track and a webinar recording covering professional judgment concepts, including real-world scenarios.

You can also review video demonstrations on how to use the FAFSA Partner Portal to amend a student’s FAFSA to support PJ and dependency status decisions.

To enroll in any of these trainings, select the links above. You will log into the FSA Training Center at fsatraining.ed.gov and then will be taken to your selected training.

If you have any questions about these courses or other training needs, please send an email to helpdesk.fsatraining@ed.gov. Thank you for taking part in training!
