Learning by doing is a terrific way to feel more confident in your Title IV aid administration skills! The FSA Training Center offers learning tracks with hands-on activities to put concepts into practice. These practical applications can help new and experienced staff alike.
We suggest exploring the following Learning Tracks:
- Student Withdrawals Learning Track: Walk through a Return to Title IV (R2T4) calculation from start to finish, for both credit-hour and clock-hour programs. As a bonus, go through a post-withdrawal disbursement example.
- FAFSA Process Learning Track: Learn about items to review when looking at a student’s Institutional Student Information Record (ISIR). Investigate common C Flag scenarios to decide how to resolve them.
- Professional Judgment Learning Track: Investigate several special circumstances scenarios to consider questions to ask and documentation to collect.
- Packaging Concepts Learning Track: Learn about the Student Aid Index (SAI) calculation and complete a “hand calculation” using the federal need analysis methodology. A great activity to complete as a team in your office!
- Awarding Pell Grant Learning Track: Review Pell Grant awarding examples and then complete an activity to practice the calculations. Tracks available for Formulas 1, 3, and 4.
To get started, log into the FSA Training Center at fsatraining.ed.gov and select “Learning Tracks” from the black main menu bar. Then select your desired learning track.
